We've had a lot of interest in the 2018 mini, and we're excited to announce that we've added a new hardware offering to the Orka family - the 2018 Mac mini clusters.

The 2018 Mac mini brings the fastest-available CPU frequency and SSD bandwidth as well as more modern architecture. With fewer concurrent VMs fighting over resources per host, the Mac mini nodes perform up to 20% faster than Mac Pro nodes in a similar configuration. The default Orka mini node config is 6-core i7 3.2 GHz, 64GB RAM, 1TB SSD. All Orka nodes have redundant 10G fiber network interfaces to provide reliable, high-speed SAN and network access, and the new 2018 mini clusters are no different.

In addition to the Mac minis, we have Orka hardware configurations to meet every need, including 6-core and 12-core Mac Pros. Whether you are optimizing for performance, scale, or cost, there is an Orka package that's right for you. Let us know how we can help.

And in other Orka news...

Orka version 1.3.0 is now available. This latest release offers TLS-enabled custom Orka domains, Kubernetes 1.16-based virtualization and orchestration layer, improved node detection, and more. Check out the release notes to learn more about the new features and improvements included in this version.

Note: Orka 1.3.0 is both a new Orka release and a virtualization and orchestration layer upgrade, and it requires some advance preparation and a scheduled maintenance window. Read more about Orka upgrades in the Orka docs.
